NOTICE OF ELECTIONS

 

Election of a Police and Crime Commissioner for the Lincolnshire Police Area

Police and Crime Commissioner; LINCOLNSHIRE

 

Number of Police and Crime Commissioners to be elected:  One

 

1. An Election is to be held for a Police and Crime Commissioner for the Lincolnshire Police Area. 

 

2. Forms of nomination for the Police and Crime Commissioner Election may be obtained from the Police Area Returning Officer who will, at the request of an elector for any electoral area, prepare a nomination paper for signature. Given the restrictions associated with Covid-19, any request for nomination papers should be made via email at paro@lincoln.gov.uk or telephone (01522) 873439. 

 

3. Nomination papers must be delivered by hand to the Police Area Returning Officer, City Hall, Beaumont Fee, Lincoln, LN1 1DD on any day after the date of this Notice, Monday to Friday between 10am and 4pm, but no later than 4pm on Thursday, 8 th April 2021. Given the restrictions associated with Covid-19, it will be necessary for candidates to make an appointment with the Police Area Returning Officer in order that their nomination can be handed in by this deadline. Any request for an appointment should be made via email at paro@lincoln.gov.uk or telephone (01522) 873439. 

 

4. In the event that City Hall cannot be used for the purposes of receiving nomination papers, the contingency venue for receipt of nomination papers will be Hamilton House, Beevor Street, Lincoln, LN6 7DJ. 

 

5. In order to be validly nominated, Candidates (or someone acting on their behalf) must deposit the sum of £5,000 with the Police Area Returning Officer by 4pm on Thursday, 8th April 2021. This sum may be in the form of cash or a Banker’s Draft (made payable to the City of Lincoln Council) and must be delivered to the Police Area Returning Officer at City Hall, Beaumont Fee, Lincoln, LN1 1DD, or in the form of an online payment. 

 

6. If the election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday, 6 th May 2021.Printed and published by the Police Area Returning Officer, City of Lincoln Council, City Hall, Beaumont Fee, Lincoln LN1 1DD 

 

7. Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at North Kesteven District Council, Kesteven Street, Sleaford, NG34 7EF by midnight on Monday 19th April 2021. Applications can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/registertovote  

 

8. Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes, including postal proxy votes, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at North Kesteven District Council, Kesteven Street, Sleaford, NG34 7EF by 5pm on Tuesday 20th April 2021, if they are to be effective for this election. 

 

9. Applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at North Kesteven District Council, Kesteven Street, Sleaford, NG34 7EF by 5pm on Tuesday 27 th April 2021, if they are to be effective for this election. 

 

10.Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of physical incapacity or for work/service reasons must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at North Kesteven District Council, Kesteven Street, Sleaford, NG34 7EF by 5pm on Thursday 6 th May 2021. The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5pm on Tuesday 27th April 2021. To apply on the grounds of occupation, service or employment, the person must have become aware that they cannot go to the polling station in person after 5pm on Tuesday 27th April 2021.
